2446: Quiz: What kind of cataract is this?

Look carefully at the title photo and ask yourself, “Hmmm, what kind of cataract is this?” Think about it. Is the dilation very large and the entire cataract is white? The patient reports no history of prior trauma. This cataract came on slowly over the course of the last year or so. The eye is inflamed with a significant degree of conjunctival injection. What is going on here? Spoiler alert: Yes, you guessed it, this is a phacolytic cataract where the liquefied lens proteins are leaking out of the capsular bag an into the anterior chamber causing inflammation and glaucoma.
