1934: combined IOL + iris prosthesis

This is a novel device that combines an artificial iris with an IOL in order to address aphakia and aniridia in cases such as this one, where the patient sustained traumatic damage to the eye. This device has three haptics spaced 120 degrees apart and our guest surgeon uses the flange technique with 5-0 or 6-0 Prolene (polypropylene) sutures to secure it to the sclera. This is the first time that I have seen this unique device and I doubt that it is available in the USA.
