3091: Case 2001 completed – great job – what’s next?

Our guest surgeon does a great job (with phaco chop) for this routine case. So that begs the question: what is next? Watch the video and give your best advice for continued improvement. My advice is simply two upgrades: (1) go from initiating the anterior capsulotomy with a bent needle cystotome to using capsulorhexis forceps directly. This streamlines instrument swaps and reduces unnecessary anterior chamber entries. Direct puncture with fine-tipped micro-forceps or capsulorhexis forceps allows immediate grasp of the capsule flap, providing continuous vector control throughout the entire creation of the continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis. And (2) make the main clear corneal incision to barely nick the peripheral limbal corneal blood vessels to allow better healing, securing a reliable long-term incision seal. Watch the video and comment which subtle refinements helped you streamline your surgical routine as your surgical volume grew? Please comment your thoughts below.
