
Today our two guest surgeons are presenting different ways of securing a loose IOL to the sclera using sutures. The first is the Alondra knot, which is often used in knitting, with 8-0 Gore-Tex suture to secure a single-piece acrylic IOL to the sclera. The second the is the Cupid needle puncture technique where a small gauge (10-0 or 9-0) polypropylene suture is used to secure the haptics to the sclera. Both seem like reasonable options but to me, the Alondra knot seems like the better option — but I may be wrong! What is your opinion here? Please comment below.
