
Our guest surgeon does a great job with this routine cataract case which is about number 700 in the learning curve. The skills are excellent and the surgery is efficient which shows great dexterity. I’ve often said that case 500 is about half-way up the learning curve with 90% being achieved at about 1000 to 2000 cases. And even at 30,000 cases or more completed, we are never more than 99% up the learning curve because there is always something new to learn and always the possibility of a rare case or complication that we have not yet encountered.
