2380: tilt and chop phaco technique

As we become more experienced surgeons, we evolve our surgical technique to provide safer, more efficient, and more precise outcomes which results in better vision for our patients. For me this means that often I will tilt the nucleus partially out of the capsular bag to facilitate chopping. With the correct technique, including a sufficiently large 5+ mm capsulorhexis, this is incredibly safe and effective and allows removal of even a dense nucleus while being minimally invasive.
