Yesterday we featured a video about using a YAG laser to break up vitreous floaters and today we are presenting a video showing a 27g anterior vitrectomy to aspirate these vitreous floaters. Both of these videos are from our discussion with Dr Inder Paul Singh on our CataractCoach Podcast, the top podcast in all of ophthalmology. This device is using a 27 vitrector that is connected to your phaco machine and it is inserted pars plana without the use of a trochar system. The infusion is from an anterior chamber maintainer instead of a pars plana infusion line. Care must be taken to avoid creating vitreous traction during this procedure as that could lead to retinal break or even detachment. What is your take on this approach? Would you offer it to your patients or elect to have it for your own eyes? Please comment below.
