The Ultra-chopper was designed by Dr Luis Escaf in order to penetrate a very dense nucleus to chop a cataract. This device attaches to the phaco probe and then it uses ultrasonic energy to help it penetrate even the densest of cataracts. This video showcases a cataract with a more moderate nuclear density and we can see how this power pre-chopper is also useful in these cases.
