Cataract surgery is designed to correct the cataract. Refractive cataract surgery is to correct the cataract and also the refractive error at the same time, thereby decreasing the dependence on glasses/spectacles and optimizing the visual acuity. An important part of the refractive surgery is addressing the astigmatism and these four videos highlight that topic. In general, for 1 diopter and above of astigmatism, a toric IOL tends to be my first choice. Whereas at 0.75 D of less of astigmatism, an incisional approach is usually my favored approach.
