1009: Cutting a Fibrotic Lens Capsule

In some white cataracts, the lens capsule can become fibrotic as the lens cortex becomes absorbed and the capsule contracts. This makes capsulorhexis creation very difficult and the tearing direction can be difficult to control. In this video our guest surgeon is Dr Devy Mandagi, Sp.M. from Manado, Indonesia and he shows us the technique of using micro-scissors to create the initial capsulotomy and then again to enlarge the capsular opening. You will one day encounter a similar case, and this technique will prove to be useful to you.
