Paired Incisions to fix Astigmatism

This is an easy technique that can be so helpful to all cataract surgeons. By using paired phaco incisions, we can effectively treat modest degrees of pre-existing corneal astigmatism to provide the best vision to our cataract surgery patients. The best part is that no additional instrumentation is needed and you already possess the needed skillset.

We have covered this topic extensively in the past, including results of our study which provide a good starting nomogram. You can find that post here. This video is a brief refresher which shows that by making our main phaco incision, plus another opposite paired incision, on the step corneal meridian, we can effectively treat corneal astigmatism.
