Watch this video carefully and you will see that the chopper instrument is used just once to create a single chop. The rest of the surgery, the chopper is being used to push the nuclear pieces and keep them in front of the phaco tip. Without this effort, the pieces would tend to fall into the capsular bag and under the phaco tip. We want these nuclear pieces in front of the phaco tip, not under it. Mastering this chopper push technique will make your cataract surgeries more efficient and safer.
