This case should be a routine, straightforward surgery with a low chance of complications. But that changes when the draping is poor because this leads to decreased visibility for the surgeon. During the capsulorhexis, the surgeon assumes that it is complete and then pulls out of the eye only to realize that it is incomplete. Fortunately, the capsulorhexis is saved and the radialization is prevented. The draping is adjusted to provide better visibility and the rest of the case proceeds normally. The patient does great and achieves excellent 20/20 vision. The take home lesson: draping is an important step of cataract surgery!
